How do you know that you have to replace the heater core?

I replaced the heater core on my '98 F150,and it's pretty much the exact same swap on an Expy. It takes about 8 hours to pull the dash(it has to come almost completely out),and another 5-6 hours getting it back.Swapping the core itself took a whole 2 minutes. You might be able to do it quicker by half-assing the install,but you'll have tons of rattles later to remind you.
