HM oils question

HM oils question
I know that ford want us to run 5w20 in our 4.6,but what if i want to run a high mileage oil like valvoline max life(5w30) will it be too thick since i hear that HM oils run thicker?will that oil be ok even in winter months?by the way im in n.c. climate. tks.

I agree with TallPaul, you will be fine with a 5w30 HM oil, such as Valvoline's "MaxLife" in your FoMoCo 4.6 v8. Castrol (now BP) also makes a quality high mileage oil, in my opinion. Ed
