My son is rebuilding a 1977 4x4 he bought for $400. It has a 1973 429 engine in it. The guy he bought it from said it had a blown head gasket. Well it sat for about 2 years and the engine is rusty and frozen up. We have taken the intake manifold and heads off it. It has has a new set of 35 tires, 750 edel carb and perm. intake manifold, and 9 qt. oil pan. So I guess the parts are worth $400.
He is looking at having the engine rebuilt. I am wondering if it would be better to buy a rebuilt engine. If anyone has bought a rebuilt 429, what kind of luck have you had with it and where did you get it from. And would you recommend their products. Thanks in advance to any and all responses.
