Oil Filter

Hey Just a quick question here. What is the cheapest anyone has found the
FL-820S Oil Filter at?
The lowest price I have found so far is $4.56/Filter but you have to buy it by the case (12). That price includes shipping. Has anyone else seen them for less? Just tryin to save a few pennies for that extra gallon of gas

No i havent..but I myself am not a big wal Mart fan so I would actually spend way more money to avoid shopping there. No offense to anyone..I just won't shop there. Not worth any money saved to have to deal with the bull at the store. Too much of a mad house for my taste.

Then try Autozone, Advance, or Pep Boys. They all carry them.

Last I looked Advance Auto had the Motorcraft FL820S' for $3.98. With NJ's 6% sales tax that comes to $4.21. It's still a bargain compared to most other premium oil filters. I was lucky enough to pick up 10 filters for $2.97 when Wally World was closing out their Motorcraft shelf space. I also got 2 cases of the most excellant Motorcraft 5W-20 oil for $1.52/quart . Even at $4 the Fl820S is a real sleeper for the quality of the filter. I've used them for 10,000 mile oil change intervals and according to the used oil analysis' they held up and filtered really good. The silicone anti-drain back valve was still flexible and DID NOT let the oil drain out through it.

Looks like Walmart has the Motorcraft filters again. At least around here!. They were gone for a couple of months now they are back. Still no Motorcraft oil.

They are carrying the oil again too. Maybe they were out that day at your store. I have seen them out at mine and then on the shelf a few days later. I think they started selling it again in either late July or early August.

What's the point?

Why start a thread about where is the cheapest place to get filters- then say you can order them, dealing with shipping, having 11 left over if that apparently is an issue, and then in the same thread, saying you don't want to deal with the hassle at Wal Mart to save $1.50 on each filter?

Not to be mean, but isn't dealing with the junk to get them at $4.56 at least the same or even more hassle then dealing with a 10 minute visit to Wal Mart?

Maalox...try drinkin some of your name and chill out. For one thing, do you know where I live? I guess not...because the closest Wal mart is 30 mins away and that sitting in traffic to boot. Then I have to park way in the back to prevent anyone from whackin my truck. Then if you have seen the walmart I am talking about you would also understand that it probably violates the fire code for maximum occupancy every single day so getting in and out of there in less then 20 minutes is a miracle. So lets break this down...30 mins there, 5 mins to park, 20 mins to shop, another 30 mins to get home. That is almost an hour and a half. Last time I checked my Pay check...I figured my time to be worth a little bit more then the $1.06/hr Ill be saving to deal with going to Wal Mart
What I have noticed since I have been on the Internet is that sometimes you can find some great deals on stuff where you normally wouldn't have found in a local store. So logically I figured....Why not ask if anyone has found some really good deals on the oil filters. Buying them by the case is not a problem because last time I checked...I might be using more then 1 filter during my trucks life span...I dunno that might just sound a bit too whacky.
Since you gave me some advice...Ill try and pass some to you...Last time I checked...these forums are pretty much set up to try and help people. People with problems or just general answers to stuff about there trucks. Be considerate to this and what people are asking. You didn't know my situation dealing with Wal-Mart before this post, But you still had to make a post being criticle of my decision not to go there. Save your logic for someone who might actually care for it....Not to be mean or anything

Sorry Spig, I was having a raucous day at work, had a guy come in chastising us about how we charge too much for service, so he "works on all of his own Caterpillar stuff and does a better job than we can anyway" and then goes on to yell at our guys for not carrying sparkplugs for the equipment we sell, when everything we sell is diesel.

I was unaware of your situation with regards to Wallyworld, so I'll retract- I just hear that from a lot of people around here where there are three of them right around us.

Consider me removed from the forum until I can play well with others...

Watch out for the Wal-Mart filters now ....

I noticed today that they are no longer selling Motorcraft filters, but "Autolite" filters instead. They still had some of the motorcraft units in stock so I compared the two and the Autolite was clearly inferior.

Wal-Mart still sells Motorcraft filters and oil for our trucks... I work at Wal-Mart and they will continue to carry them.....

There was a time when they disappeared for a few weeks but they are back now and yes they usually have the best price.......

With that said, some dealership service shops will match the lowest price.... My local dealership matched Wal-Mart's price on both the filters and oil so I bought a bunch the last time I was in for service.....

Wait for your re-order of your current stock of Motorcraft's (and when your distribution center moves all the Motorcrafts) ... you'll find that the replacements are "Autolite" Brand filters.
