When I bought my 2006 Super Duty, I sold my 1999 Expedition for $3500 BELOW what I thought I was going to get for it. I also have a "beater" car. It's a 1986 VW Rabbit convertible - "The Chick Car"... This is what I drove for my 100 mile a day work effort. I thought when I purchased the the new truck I would be selling it too. I'd be making EVERYBODY happy - (i.e. girlfriend, neighbors, fellow commuters....) The week I brought my truck home gas went up like 18 cents. It has since gone up about 50 cents a gallon since driving my beauty off the lot... My "Chick Car" and I are getting re-aquainted this weekend. I bought the truck for mainly pulling a new trailer and I have NO regrets in the purchase. I don't care that I spent the money for a truck I won't use for commuting. I have to agree with AeroStarHiker... Get yourself a "Chick Car" for maybe $400 - $600, keep the Expedition for a while longer and see what gas does. My first thought was the Expedition will be MUCH safer for family and accessories... Don't forget, you can carry A LOT more diapers in a Expy than a Focus...
