leaking gas

Does anyone have trouble with gas leaking out of their gas cap and if so does anybody know how to stop it from happening. I have a 68 f250 with the tank behind the seat and if I park on an angle it spills gas everywhere.
Thanks

Everyone that owns one does. Fill up only when you can drive 3-4 gallons out. Park it drivers side uphill when you can. Should you be in a level parking lot drive the drivers side up on the curb on an end or island space.

No way to stop it as far as I know. It is not as bad in the winter.

Purchase a NEW gas cap. Mine was really sloppy when I bought truck and when you went around a corner...it poured gas down the side of truck/bed!!! GEEZ!
I bought a new cap and it fits really snug and won't allow fuel to leak(it actually pulls vacuum and "whooshes" when you unscrew it when tank is low). Yes, it still will burp over if you fill to top and let it sit in sun(oops, done that too even with new cap).

The new cap will help some. If you can wiggle yours when down tight...it needs replaced.

some new ones are still sloppy. you can go the the junk yard and get a couple of the gaskets from other truck gas caps and double it up. it works, and saves a couple bucks too.

I put om a new locking cap and it still leaked, so I pulled the filler pipe out and used a rounded punch and from the inside reworked the sealing surface. Once I got the surface hammered out I put some sandpaper on a flat surface and smooth the sealing suface. Then before I put it back on the truck I put the cap on the filer pipe, turned it upside down and filled it with water to see if it leaked, worked it untill it did not leak anything out.

That is good to know, I just learned the method that i suggested 30 years ago and have been employing it since.

Wonder if i could change if I wanted to????
