Bucks in reverse

This weekend I took my '77 LTD (351W) on a highway trip and went about 110 miles, doing 70 mph most of the way. That's the hardest I've driven it since I got the vehicle. It did fine during the trip, but when I went to park it upon reaching my destination, I had some trouble backing the car in reverse. I'd give it some gas and the car bucked real bad...I had to hit the gas pretty hard to get it to move. After the car sat for just a while, the problem went away. Fluid looked good, and this has never happened before. Any ideas?

The transmission was rebuilt shortly before I got the car, but that's all I know. I didn't get a good look at the pan, but it looks pretty square and I'm guessing it's an FMX.

Was wondering if anyone would have any ideas as of late?

I saw something like this when the parking brake was sticking. Made it really tough to move in either direction. Not sure if that could happen only in reverse or not.

Just a thought.

The parking break wasn't on, but that's a good way to describe how it felt.

spongy brake pedal?

It doesn't have to be Park brake, but the wheel cylinders could be over extended (and binding) due to not enough pad left on the shoes. This is usually noted by pedal going down farther than it should, or a lengthy stopping distance.

I guess the reason I don't think the brakes are involved because it drove fine in drive for stop and go traffic after a hard 110 miles at 70 the whole way. The problem only showed up in reverse, before I parked it.
