I'm guessin you have a 351 right? I'll go out with the dial calipers in the mornin and get you some measurements. Outside diameter is what you want, correct?
that would work but it would suck hot air right in. Why not get a CAI and run it down underneath the bumper? I'll take some pictures of mine and show you. What your thinking would work but only if you ran a cowl hood or a hood with a hood scoop....wait that would work really well a cowl hood with the 2 filters sucking cold air...oooo i like it already.
I'll measure tomorrow. Its a 302, but it probly the same as 351 intake. For now im thinking of just leaving the bottom portion of air box on to let some cooler air in. And then build some kind of wall around the filters to keep hotter air away. I think I'll get some new intake tubes that are aluminum or whatever instead of the rubber ones.
yeah man sure I will take some pictures tonight. I'm looking for some 3" aluminum to replace the piece of ABS that I have. Oh well it works really good on the highway. I'll take some pics tonight.
oh ya she whistles! Sounds really cool and when you rev it up it sucks hard on the air. All the boys loved it when i revved it up cause my trucks already loud and the whistle sounded hella cool. If you run around with your window down you can hear the intake suck the air when you drive. I still have to modify it just a little more. I'm replacing the ABS 3" pipe with some aluminum if I can find some. Also just to give you an idea, the filter is positioned right where the f250's get their intake scoop. I took the rubber air dam out and so now its basically ram air. I always wanted a ram air truck and now I've got it. I'm putting rubber down so when water splashes up it doesn't hit the filter and get it soaked. I'll be sure to post some pics when I'm all done with it. Hopefully this week.
*** Oh and mine doesn't suck hot air at all. From the excess wind from the fan blowing on it to the way its postitioned as close to the front as possible the heat from the engine is forced towards the firewall as the filter steals all the cold air coming in. Yep it took me a while to figure out a way to get it to work.
Well, I saw those filters that tuners use on sale for $13 a piece so I grabbed me two of them. They're APC intimdators...talk about ricey!
I need to put them somwhere else...where cool air is. I like your idea of under the bumper. I like blue too! They make a loud suction noise, but my loud exhaust still overwhelms it. When I shut off the truck, you can hear them taking a last breath.
