Howdy!

Hi Y'all,
I'm the proud new owner of a 77 f150 ranger and I'm in Lexington.

Just wondering who knows where a good junkyard is locally for 73-79 parts? Specifially I'm looking for exterior trim pieces, a tailgate and maybe a tilt column.

Thanks!

Hello there wintremute! sorry it took me so long to respond. I have been busy at work. What kind of shape is your new truck in? There is a online DB for junk yards you can access. PM me if you want it.

I think it's in pretty darn good shape for a 77. It was my buddy's who used to to drive it to work at a coal mine (dirt roads), so it has a bit of rust and half of Pike County stuck to the undercarriage, which has proven very hard to remove. Have to get rid of the mud before it eats it all up.
I will need to replace the wheel arches and the tailgate and give it a paint job. Other than that it will just need carpet, a new bench seat, an exhaust, and it'll be a beauty! It has 138k mi which I think is great for a 77. Doesn't smoke or use oil at all.
PM is on the way. Thanks.

I see more 70's trucks when I drive down to Lake Cumberland . Harrodsburg, Danville, Liberty, Somerset, down that way. Seems like there is one in a front or side yard , sitting idle every 5 miles or so. Also there is a yard down on the south side of Nicholasville. He had a couple 70's ford , but sadly had crushed most of his, just like the rest of the yards around here are doing to make space. There is also a yard over in Frankfort on the east side of the east /west connector that had a few in their small yard. Also one on US 33 down close to Nonesuch . Ky that had more 70's Ford pu's than anybody I visited during my parts search . I have been at most of them the last 4 years looking for parts, they are getting real scarce around here close to Lexington.
