intakes

I don't have any dyno sheets available right now, but we did do some comparisons about 10 years ago between the RPM and the BT. The BT typically made more mid range torque and more HP from about 3000rpm up. Below 3000, the ebock had a very slight edge on TQ, but it was not very significant. On the street, we haven't had much comparison as we don't use the RPM, but we have used the BT on truck towing applications with 410/428's, and it pulls like a mother. It probably would not be the choice for a near stock 360/390 trucks, but works well on just about anything else. For top HP, drag race stuff, I recommend the Dominator flange version.

We have compaired the Edl RPM and the Blue Thunder intakes. On a mild truck 428, the Edelbrock made more power below 2500rpm, but the BT took over after that and never looked back. By 5000rpm, it had a 20ft/lb advantage. We use the MR port B-Thunder the most, as it matches up to the Edelbrock heads almost exactly, and matches the '67 and later small port FE iron heads pretty well. The BT is a great all around intake and can attribute it's good street performance to the original Ford designed tapered runners. For the guy on a budget, the RPM is fine. If the budget is a little more open, I would go with a Blue Thunder.

These are pieces from Rob McQ posts on FE forums. He has blueovalperformance and sells the blue thunder line, I wonder if it influences his decisions.

gashog, i haven't dynoed anything. I copy pasted and citied the author.

Here's some more of my copy paste work.

I have flow tested some intakes and thought it might help you decide whats best for your applcation. Took the average of #7 and #8 at 300 and 600 lift to get a flow average to compare intake to intake, heres what I got.

Performer RPM 195.425
Sidewinder 196.1625
Edelbrock F-427 202.075
PI 205.75
B/T M/R 210.925

try the FEforums on network54. I have not run the streetmaster nor would i would I favor dual plane manifolds for the street. They have better bottom end response and driveability. Want do you want to know?

heres my open minded post!

The edel streetmaster and holley street dominator have small/high velocity runners. Some poeple like them and some don't. Scott Vinscent thinks highly of them in ported form. I happen to think he ports everything he gets his hands on.

My opinion us using them in an 4wd auto, no way. 2wd manual maybe. People will say that there street master pulls hard but i bet a dual plane would pull "harder". I suppose if its all you got and you aren't pulling a semi-trailor it will work. But then again I wouldn't ever buy a performer intake either.
