Well its a 78 F-150 4x4 i dont know if its originally all time four wheel drive or not but i dont know why anyone would change it to that. Still Does anyone know whats involved(parts, cost) in changing all time four wheeldrive to manual lockout hubs on a 78 F-150 4x4?
Mile Marker makes a kit with hubs to effect the change over to part time 4x4----Also another company makes the same thing but i can't thimk of their name at the moment------
South,
Mine cost me $60 for the transfer case gears and $65 for the lockouts. The transfer gears I got from Ford and the lockouts are Superwinch . Hope this helps !!!!!!!
Thanks guys this really should help out alot, im still not sure about buying the truck i would have to do this to. It has a rusted through bed, but i have another for it, but i dont like the idea of the 400 with an automatic. But if i do go ahead and decide to buy the truck ill remember what you guys said and ill take a look at superwinch hubs and ford transfer case. Thanks yall
don't denigrate that old 400 too much---its a very good engine---and if you don't like it--the 460 will bolt right up to the same bell housing that fits the 400----L&L makes conversion kits to make the change----if that 400 hasn't been bored before---you can do some basic things and have a very strong engine!!!!!!fd :-X11
