I've got a 99 f-350 7.3l crewcab drw with a manual 6, Im having problems
shifting when the tranny heats up. will the after market clutch assembly
fix this problem, the truck only has 35k on it and ford won't do anything
about it. could something else be going on, it does shift a little better
when its cold?
What is it doing (or not doing) exactly? Is it grinding when you shift or does it just refuses to go into gear? Is it all gears or just one or some? Or is the clutch slipping and squealing when it gets hot?
Welcome to FTE duallindays. Please take a moment to review our forum guidelines.
The hydraulic operating systems on our clutches is self adjusting, so if the pick-up point is changing I'd guess you had an internal leak in the master or slave cylinder. It's also possible that the release fork pivot is worn or the fork itself could be bending a little, but the hydraulic system is entirely external and easy to replace, so I would start there.

welcome to FTE, the best ford truck site on the web. please take some time and read the sites guide lines and each areas read firsts to help guide you though our site.
The only time it grinds is when i don't have the clutch pedal at the floor or when i try and shift to fast, the problem appears to be happening in all gears and there has been no evidence that the clutch is slipping. I've installed a AFE intake and banks exhaust with an evolution programmer and there's no slippage when i get on it hard. I've also completed a full inspection of the slave cylinder and had a tranny shop look at it, ford won't look at it unless i pay up front for them to drop the tranny and thats with no guarantees that they'll find anything wrong. I really don't want to pay ford for a fishing expedition.
Is this truck a manual transfercase?
If so ,do this test after warmed up
put the transfercase in neutral/e-brake on
Shift from granny low to reverse. does it go in with no trouble?
If the input shaft doesn't stop or alow you to shift without grinding, you have 5 possible problems
1)bad slave
2)bad pressure plate (common with diesel)
3)worn or bad throwout bearing
4)Clutch worn past spec's
5)bent throwout fork
This is a sight seen situation (it has to come apart to determine on all counts anyway)
