Dealer alarm...

My wife's 91 xl extended 4.0 has a Ford dealership installed Ford/CodeAlarm alarm installed in the van. The alarm works ok, but for two things...

One, the lock on ignition function - this is the first alarm I have seen that will ALL the doors with the ignition, but not UNLOCK them, when ignition shut off.

Two, the vintage of the alarm, most of these unit had a passive arming feature...close the door, and walk away - the alarm would arm itself within about 1 minute, locking doors, etc...this one doesn't...

Does ANYONE here know if it's possible to setup this alarm to perform these tasks? or do I simply need to replace it with a newer model...

Also, does anyone have a wiring guide for this unit? I pulled the alarm CPU out, and there are NO marking what-so-ever, other than a large, Ford logo sticker...nothing else - no model #, S/N, Mfg date, nothing...

another Aero owner needing parts?
I want that gold one that attracts naked chicks
reminds me of my hippie days after Vietnam and a '65 Ford van with purple carpet, black windows and a mattress in back

an aero attracts nekkid chicks? never heard of this before. I may have to rethink that underbody neon and sound system idea I scrapped awhile back.

I know what you mean - while the van might be great for us, it's not exactly a high-theft item...

The biggest thing I want from it is the keyless entry....

Get a keyless entry kit. It would bypass all the flaws your security system may have, and it will be much easier to wire.

I'm thinking about it...but I was simply trying to prevent spending any money, if possible...

The unit I'm looking at is also a full alarm, but you don't need to wire in all of the alarm functions...it's reliable (had one before), inexpensive, and relatively easy to wire in...and will wire in an identicle one into my Mazda, also...

I was hoping to find some info on the dealer installed unit though, also, so that it could save me some wiring...utilize some of the wiring they did for it, including door lock relays, etc....

I doubt the dealership has any paperwork anymore, and even if they did, they'd prolly want as much for the paperwork as a new alarm system would cost...
