Do the respective dealers that sponsor this website believe that Ford Motor Company can sell the 06' F-150's WITHOUT these here-to-for incentives that Ford, Gm, and Chrysler utilized to "rid" their lots of 05's? One would have paid around 77% of the sticker on an 05' F-150 this summer. Edmunds now has the same 06' truck at a price that is about $4K HIGHER, for there are no employee discount incentives on the 06's (yet).
Shouldn't be a problem- the first '06 F150's should hit right about the time everything expires. As thin as inventories are, it's going to take awhile to rebuild stock levels.
I haven't a clue, because the buying public is now so fickle. And the main reason they've become so fickle is the ever-changing incentives that we promise will end tomorrow so they better buy now, only to be replaced with "bigger and better" programs the next day. So, the industry pretty much has just itself to blame for fickle consumers. It's always tough to view it from the other side, but if I were a consumer and didn't NEED to buy a new truck, I'd certainly be confused and wary. Buy now? Wait to see if the prices go lower, or the rebates go higher? Will Jeff and Van Bortel lose their mind and offer that "$1000-below-invoice" sale again? Only the shadow knows...
Something else that hasn't been mentioned here- I know no one's going to shed a tear for the dealers, but consider this: it takes about a 8% gross margin to net 2%. What happens when you start out with a 5% gross margin?

Owner fires every salesperson in sight, sales managers run and hide, the comptroller bites down hard on his cyanide tablet, the service manager raises the labor rate by $15.00/ hour and the cashier bursts into tears and quits!
