Camper Certification?

Does the camper package come with a camper certification? I didn't get one from my dealer when I purchased my '05, but I seem to remember seeing one in another truck with camper package???

Don't recall anything like that in my paperwork...have to look. Do you need a certification?

To be camper?

My '05 came with one too. It was just a single piece of paper; looked kinda like a photocopy. It had the GVWR on it and some other info stating it was certified for a camper. My dealer had stapled it to the purchase contract.

Is the factory the only one that can "certify" the truck? Or can it be certified by someone else?

Thanks guys/gals. The thing I saw in another truck is exactly what you're describing, something like photocopy of a certification. My truck has the camper package, but no "certification". I don't know if it makes any difference, except that if it should have one I want it . If for nothing else if I ever sell the truck I want to provide it to the next owner. I'll call the dealer where I bought it.

I thought there was a sticker in the glove box or on the driver door for this certification. Part of the camper package is the certification.

Good point Ace. Mine came with a certificate in the glove box. You should get it from your dealer. Did your window sticker list a camper package?

Yeah, it's got the camper package on the window sticker, which I kept. But I was pretty sure there was supposed to be a "certification" (like a half sheet of paper, photocopy looking thing). I've looked all over for it but can't find it, so I think it was overlooked by the dealer. My dealer overlooked a few things, so it doesn't really surprise me.

In Canada you don't get the certification , so I just keep a copy of the option list to show it is on the truck. Maybe some States require a certificate and that is why some
trucks have one included.

Did you buy it from Crater Lake Ford or Butler? I got mine in G.Pass from Mock. They didn't forget anything except to fill it with gas, which they did later.

It was actually a Mocks truck. They ordered it. I wanted to buy from Crater so I asked them to do a dealer trade and get it for me. It came into Mocks, was unloaded and immediately picked up by a guy from Crater that brought it into Medford for me. The sale didn't go as smoothly as I wanted though. I don't really want to go into the details (they "forgot" several things), but I'd probably buy from Crater again, but not from the same salesperson.

The only difference is heavier duty springs on the front (which I changed already on my 04) and a heavier duty sway bar in the rear. Certififying that is a joke IMO.

yes but in many states there is laws for hauling a camper. the truck must be certified to do so. they started this program here few years back . the certification is legal proof the truck is certified for a slide in camper . my friend and i were stopped going thru the reno/ca state line inspection station. they got us for a faulty brake light. the trooper wanted license, registration, insurance and weighed us and asked if the truck was certiffied to haul a camper.
