First off, I would rebuild the engine you have if possible, or get a good original core from a salvage yard. I have seen too many "store" rebuilds come with mismatched rods and other questionable (read cheap as possible) parts. Plus with a rebuild you can put whatever cam you want in. It will probably violate the warranty if you install another cam in a store rebuild.

A Performer RPM setup is not the optimum setup for street use in a truck. The regular Performer 302 is a better choice. A 600 cfm carb will get better street response and mileage than the 750. The 600 cfm carb should be more than adequate on a 302.
