I've just got my Bronco back from the shop after a torque convertor change and noticed the rubber bung in the bottom of the bell housing is missing. They say it was gone when they got it in - it was there a week or so ago so must have dropped out or the shop have lost it.
I'm guessing this is just to keep crap and water our of the bellhousing ratehr than act as an oil seal etc.
Are they anything special? I suspect trying to order one from the US would be very expensive for a few cents worth of bung.
Yeah, its just a rubber cap that pops into the hole. You can probably find something the correct diameter to snap in there. If you get off road a bit its a good idea to have something there just to keep the crud out.
Geez, the shop coulda just stuck one in there for you - they probably have a ton of them laying around or even a new one that would probably cost them a nickle or so. Little things like that can tell you a lot about the shop's work ethic.
