Major colling problems

Hello everyone i have a major problem i need to fix i have a 86 300 6 out of a truck and it is now in a tree chipper and having truble keeping it cool we have tried 160 themorstat and a restrictor plate and still no luck the radiator is new 3 core and water pump is good we have run strait collant and just water and new fan expanded the shroud also tried electric fan 1600 cfm and stilll over heating and today took the head off and discovered that some of the the ports where covered by the head gasket and the ports on the head where different from some of the ones on the block i need any help i can get i will be greatly appricated i know i cant spell either lol

could it be that the head is on backwards? AFAIK the 300s head and block castings didnt change much, especially in regards to the cooling passages.
