sorry to hear about this man. what ever you do becarful!!! dealerships and lil mom and pops tick me off also and like you i try to do what i can myself but you can only do so much in your drive way! these guys on this site are pretty cool and will give you as much help and ideas they can and listen to some of our advice no matter how off it may sound before you get your rig or yourself killed! i would suggest not making any thing more difficult than it has to be. of course every thing checks out good but not for you dont you know this. i think its a conspiracy! haha! i hate noises and when i hear something i want it gone right away but i only hear them no-one especially mechanics every hear them, you know what i mean? i'm babbling, sorry, i do that. anyway, maybe try another ford dealer, mine that i found finally will always get my buisness, they've actually been ok! one other thing, have you checked the emergency-brake, maybe its loose or tight, maybe intermittent. it may sound stupid but i had a small problem with mine after i completed a lift. otherwise the md sound s like he's got a good idea......unfortunately!
I have the same problem with my 99 ford ranger. I do not let the dealer or anyone just do what they want with my truck. (which generally saves me big $$$)
Anyways the dealer drove mine and said it seems like the ABS is starting to kick in. He said I could change the rear sensor( I did, didn't help) or the wheel bearing are getting worn and the front wheel sensors are reading it wrong.
Mine also is prone to "gliding" when it is wet or real cold out. After going thru 1 red light I pulled my rear wheels(did a brake job a month before) and there was ice on my shoes.I never had good luck with my rear brakes even after changing everything including the wheel cylinders.
I'm wondering if the ABS module is it like MD has said, or more than one problem.
