I have a 1990 ford F-150 super cab that I am restoring. The rear frame cross members are rusted pretty bad and I would like to replace them. I visited my local ford dealer and they are not shown in their parts catalog. Does anyone know where I can get replacement crossmembers or is my only option is to have them fabricated. Also do I need to do one at a time ?
If I do all the rears at once would I mess up any frame alignment ?
I appreciate any and all information.
Are you sure that it is rusted through, or just surface rust? I've seen a few things that looked pretty rusty and upon closer inspection, it was just surface rust. A little sandblasting/Stripping/Rust Killer etc. does wonders, if the structural integrity of the cross members has not been breached by rust through.
Philip, you might also want to take this post to the "1980 - 1996 Trucks and Vans" thread instead of here, cuz Ken is probably gonna put a lock on this thread since we ain't supposed to be asking questions about our trucks in this area....
(Sorry Ken)...
