Below is the text from a CNN.com story about a Ford Recall. It doesn't list Superduties, but I swear I've read somewhere on FTE where this was a problem with Superduties. If I'm wrong, I'm sorry, anyone have any info???
**** QUOTED CNN Story ****
NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Ford Motor Co. is recalling about 3.8 million trucks and SUVs to fix a cruise control switch that could overheat and burn even when the vehicles are not running.
<!--startclickprintexclude--><!--endclickprintexclude-->Ford said that its investigation found that brake fluid could leak into electronical components of the speed control system causing them to corrode.
<!--startclickprintexclude--><!--endclickprintexclude-->"In rare cases, the corrosion in the electrical components can lead to increasing resistance and higher electrical current flow through the system. Together, these conditions could lead to overheating and, possibly, a fire at the switch," the company said in announcing the recall.
<!--startclickprintexclude--><!--endclickprintexclude-->Ford is in the process of acquiring parts necessary to repair the problem and, in the meantime, is advising owners of the effected vehicles to take their vehicle to a dealer to have the cruise control system deactivated.
<!--startclickprintexclude--><!--endclickprintexclude-->The vehicles included in the recall are 1994-2002 Ford F-150s, 1997-2002 Ford Expeditions, 1998-2002 Lincoln Navigators and 1994-1996 Ford Broncos equipped with factory-installed speed control.

That's what I was hoping to hear Bear Hunter. I searched and can't find it but if someone had asked be before today I would have told them that I heard that about SD's too. Thanks for responding and I am sorry if I brain farted on this one...
The same switch was on the '01 SD that I just bought. I took it to the local dealer (Ramey's), pointed it out and would not take NO for an answer. I requested a service order. They had me sign the document, and promptly replaced the switch. When I went to pay the bill, it was marked "No Charge - TSB/Recall?"
I've got 163K on my Bronco with factory cruise control and haven't had an issue to date. It will be 11 years old on September 24th. I believe that since it's not broken, I won't have them fix it.

The issue is not if yours is broke but to eliminate the possibility of a fire if it does. Do what you want but it is cheap insurance to get it taken care of.
I should have stated that since it does not leak brake fluid I won't take it in. No brake fluid leak=no corroded switch=no excessive resistance=no fire.
Then again, the insurance may pay more than it's worth!

No leaks YET. Since it is a free repair and affects nothing else in the vehicle, I can't imagine not having it done.
please read webmasters post at the top of the areas forum list.
this recall is for the 150's alike. the rc adds a fuse to the wireing to blow our if anything should happen.
as to our super dutys1 mine is a 05 and the switch did start leaking at about 9k, my dealer was very fast at changing it out. this rc now has me thinking of adding a low amp fuse on my own.
Switch started leaking on my '02 and disabled the cruise. It's the same part number involved in the F150 recalls but since it the SDs aren't listed in the recall, they wouldn't replace it for free. The new switch was only $20 so I didn't argue too much. Just bought it, removed the old one and installed the new one myself. Less than 20 minutes. I've got brake fluid and bubbling paint all over the area under the switch though.
It will take a few SDs burning down to get them to do something. Boneheads. If it's the same freaking part number, it should be recalled no matter if it's on a F150, 250 or a Neon. I wonder if/when they finally do something, if I can take the old switch in and get some credit.
JC: It is the same switch. On the SD , looking at the master cylinder it is on the lower left side. It is pointed downwards. I will check my invoice and see if they listed a part number.
Also, it is cheaper to buy the recall switch ($12.00) and just the original ($32.00). Just confirmed that with the dealership.
