Ugh.. noise and power problem

Well I rewired everything last night, and I go to power it up and no radio or CD player. The thing is, I have a spectrum display on it that jumps around, unless there is no signal, or the volume is turned all the way down.. and it's not displaying. This is with the engine off, when I turn on the engine, I have horrible alternator noise, although the radio or CD does play then. I've rewired the ground twice for the headunit and amp. I'm getting really confused. Any help is, as always, appreciated.

check the speaker wire for cuts or shorts. i spent a few hours in a customers explorer looking for a horrible alternator whine and it ended up being a cut in the speaker wire grounding on the chassis.

I just ran the wire 2 nights ago, but I'll check for any cuts or shorts in the wiring.

Ended up being the CD player, replaced it with one I had laying around, it's noise free and sounds very clean. Can't wait to get the Eclipse CD8455 now.
