Dry steering pump/box

Well, I got my truck right apart and all the fluid out of the steering
pump and box, What im wondering is if they will get ruined, or seals dry up or something if I leave them sitting for a while with no fluid in them.
(over winter in cold weather, in garage though)

Probably won't be a problem but just to be safe why don't you plug the connection ports and fill them with fluid. Keeps the seals in good shape and also will keep out the dirt.
