Do any of you guys & gals get the "thumbs up" sign, people waving, tooting their horn, or shouting to you "Hey, nice truck!"? It often happens when I take out the ole '59 F-250 4x4 to pick up a loaf of bread, or to just take a short cruise. I figure maybe it's because there aren't too many of them in my area?? It even happens once in a while when I'm in my daily driver ('79 F150 Ranger 4x4). The other day, a guy in a Chevy truck was turning the corner. As he went around and past me, he stopped and backed up to me just to tell me how nice he thought my truck was. It's really nice that people take the time to compliment your truck. Has anyone had similar experiences?

Yeah I get the thumbs up quite often also. I've even got the thumbs up from police officers a couple times even with my clear tailights, I love it! :-)

I get the thumbs up all the time. Plus I get the one with that other finger too! Mainly because I don't drive like my vehicle has only two speeds!
Anyway, the last time I got the thumbs up was Monday evening on my way to work. I've been driving my 65 because it gets better mileage than my 88 (the 88 has the 5,0 and the 65 has a 390, better mileage go figure...) But I was sitting at a red light when this guy comes crusing down the road in his minivan, and gives me the good ole thumbs up as he goes by! Man, it's good to own an old Ford.
I also got a "neck breaking smile" from a Texas State Trooper today on my way to work! That was the coolest! (<----sounding like high school again)
Yes, it is the coolest thing when others like you're vehicle as much as you do!

There is always someone giving me the "thumbs up" when I break out the old car. It is something that almost becomes an expected thing. I do the same to others that I see.
Believe it or not, I get an occasional "thumbs up" with my 92' F-250. There is nothing special about. Everything is basically standard. 351 engine. C6 trans. Stock size tires. The only thing added is a tool box on the bed and a plow rig on the front. I don't even get the chance to wash it on a regular basis. It is in cherry condition though. No dents. Interior is 100% intact. It is kinda weird. Every now and then someone will come up and say "Hey, nice truck". Works' for me.
LOL I live on a military base, and The guards stopped asking me y i didn't have a sticker... my truck is determinable wherever it goes,so they give me the thumb, considerin it's got the big ole REDNECK sticker, and it's primary color is mud! (the ALABAMA thats usually blaring doesn't hurt, neither, considerin all the MP's are good ol' boys!)
Has A FORD Drivin You Lately?
When the Beast realizes it only has a 4-cyl, we're gonna have probs!
At my PT job, I work at a beer store (I like working there a heck of a lot better than my FT... but thats a different story ) and park my truck right out front of the door. I can't believe how many people compliment me on it. I don't know how many people that I've told how much lift it has, what kind of tires, how it does on gas, what kind of power it has, whatever.... I mean, it's a 95 silver and purple (which i haven't seen any others with this color combo) ex.cab/sb with 35" Goodyear MT's... but hey, it makes me happy

Had to take something to the post office the other morning on my way to work. I pulled into the parking lot just ahead of another guy. I jumped out of my '64, scampered into the building quickly, and put my mail in the slot and was walking out when the guy who I preceeded into the parking lot was coming into the structure. He only said two words to me, "Nice Truck."
When I was still Stateside I got the Thumbs up alot with my 67 Fairlane 500. It is an original R code 427/4speed car sans 427. (original owner should be horse whipped for that one.) I am running a 390 .030 over with TRW forged pistons, 427 medium rise heads, about 10:1 on compression, Lunati Cam 230 duration @.050/.554 lift. It has the factory intake and Carbs for the 427 installed. seems to run good this way. I also have the factory
valve covers and air cleaner installed on it. At first glance it looks alot like a 427 and makes right on Par with the HP but I keep setting people straight on the facts. I sure miss cruising with the windows down listing to the lope of the cam at idle and the exhaust note at highway speeds. The bad thing is that it is a Camero magnet. The kids with the Newer ones always want to race. lol. I had a guy about 40 years old driving a newer Camero Conv want to run about a year ago and he chilled really quick when he saw the 427 fender badges. lol. didn't have the heart to tell him. lol.
I get lotz of thumbs ups in Georgia. It seems most Mexicans want to BUY my 74 F100!! Will have a web page for y'all pretty soon to enjoy. Busy taking the worn out 6 banger and dropping a 460 into it right now.
Kenny, I was taking the wrecked mustang to the shop for the estimate today and was limping along at about 35-40 mph and had so girl come up along side me blowing the horn I thought I was losing parts or something when I looked over se was giving me thumbs up on the car!!! good thing it wasn't to visable from the angle she was on. LOL anyway the estimate is 3581.00 now I have to wait for the adjuster and see what he says. John
