On a bench, in a vise. The new ones come with a bleeder kit with fittings and tubing. You put the fittings in where the lines go and connect the tubing then loop the tubing over into the fluid keeping them in the fluid. Then push the piston in and out until the bubbles are gone from the clear tubing.
