I just bought a 78 F-350 with a I6 300cid with a 4 spd. Have a donor car, 1976 Merc stn wgn, with a 460 and c6 auto. How much trouble would a transplant be? Thanks Drill

It's not too bad, I changed my 77 F150 from a 351w to a 460 Lincoln. I used the car tranny and had to shorten my driveshaft because the car tranny had a longer tailshaft. I aslo had to move the tranny crossmember back and drill new holes ( no big deal ) . you will need truck frame mounts for a 460 and if you use stock manifolds, you will need them off of a truck or you will have to notch the pass side frame to clear the bottom flange. It was more time consuming than anything. I guess you will either have to use a floor shifter or round up an automatic column. I don't know about the driveshaft thing on yours because mine had a smallblock C6 in it, and the tailshaft may be different on the manual tranny that you have now.
