Auto or Lock hub position

Auto or Lock hub position

I just noticed today that the hubs are in the lock position eventhough I have the Auto Select on the dash to chose 4x4H, 4x4L or 2x4.

What position should they be in?

Auto. If they are locked all the time it takes a little more fuel to pull them.
