Air compressors are so cheap lately and a decent air impact wrench and air ratchet are also so inexpensive, I highly recommend that all of you own this equipment. Less than 200.00 american, and truly worth it.

Amen brother, air tools rock! I do not miss the days of cussing because I did not have enough room/streagnth to remove a stubborn bolt.

The question is not the money, it's the space in my garage. Until I get a gardening tool shack, there isn't much room in my garage for a compressor.

On a different note, I read in another forum - not going to name names - about one guy calling for help after he stripped the threads on his drain plug by tightening it with an air impact wrench. Probably the same type who ran with scissors as a litlle kid

On the room thing, the first time you do brakes with air tools to remove the wheels, you will set your wife on the patio to sleep and use her space on the bed for your compressor.

old Chinese proverb:
he who use air impact tool to tighten wheel lug nuts will have two tight nuts and warped wiggling brake rotors.

What I like about air tools, is having the power to simply "get started" a stubborn bolt. Just that initial turn, then I am able to remove it manually, with regular tools. This way, there is less of a chance of snapping off, a rusted or seldom turned bolts, ie: water pump bolts. Some air tools will snap them off, if you are in too much of a hurry, and the rpm's are too high. ED

I like them for that 3" bolt that only needed to be 1 1\2"
or where I only have a 2" space to move the wrench but can use an extension and a air wrench to get it out.

True, but they are nice at keeping your two hands less bloody.

Bought an electric impact. Already pulled many tire lugs and front wheel nut when changing a drive axle. It has paid for itself. And it will remove a very tight lug. Has more power than I thought it would. I was very pleasantly surprised. Friend went and bought one after he and I did the drive axle, except it was $30 bucks cheaper on sale when he got his!!!!
