starter problem???

Hi all:

I have an 04 FX4 Supercab. For about the last week, occasionally when I go to start the truck it sounds like the starter is "grinding" like if you turn the ignition when the truck is already on.

When I try again, the truck starts no problem. Any ideas? This seems strange to me, never had a vehicle do that before.

check to see if the mounting bolts on the starter have come loose.

It could be your solenoid switch making the noise. This sometimes happens when you have a weak or dead battery. I would take it in while under warranty. Good Luck!
