Just grab it with some pliers. Twist and pull. Also, put a light bead of silicone on the hose neck where it bolts on. They tend to warp and seep, even with a new O-ring.

In all likelyhod you'll need a new upper theorm. housing, the old ones corrode and aren't worth putting back on.
I cleaned mine three times and finally just got a new one, no problems then.
