Exhaust flutter?
All of the talk about y-pipes and exhaust flutter makes me ask the question-did the flutter actually hurt anything besides annoying the owner? I am pretty sure mine has the flutter. I call it more of a warbling, most noticable when letting completely off of the gas and coasting down. Mine has a flowmaster 40 on it with 2 tips exiting in front of rear wheel. I think PO gutted the cat. I still have the restricted y pipe.

I think your "warble" is from the FM40 muffler. Flutter occurs in a certain RPM range when under light throttle. Neither will hurt anything.
In fact, your warble might be kind of cool sounding- if you're into the old big blocks with glass-packs that would "growl & pop" when you let off the gas.
