Changing 3spd to 5spd
I put a rebuild 390 4V into my '68 F100 Ranger, goes great up to about 80 mph and then it revs far too high. I still have the stock 3 spd behind it. I would like to swap it out for a 5 spd. I will have to change the mount and driveshaft, no big deal, I can take that to a machinist. What I have questions about is which transmissions - I was thinking of the Tremec T5 - will bolt to the FE bellhousing? I have made a few calls to a few different retailers and have been very disappointed, nobody really knows a thing. I know a lot of AC Cobras run a 427 with 5 spds so it must be possible, but who do I talk to?
