Unhappy Axleshaft U joint

Need help my 6.9 guys. Tonight I was driving the 87 6.9 and ran into trouble. I guess it is what they call the axleshaft u-joint is this right???? Has this happened to any of you all?? How is it to change?? Should I let the shop do it? Any advice? This is a 1987 6.9 F250 4x4. No for sure what the front end is.

Gotta tell us which one left or right, inner or outer. If you intend to do one on a side do them both.......

This is not a big or bad job, me and my 11 year old daughter replaced all of the axle u joints and brakes on my 91 F-250 in a couple of hours.
Just remove the lock out, hub and then the spindle, pull the axle and replace the joints, this is the hardest part!
Don't forget the dust shiels like I did cause you have to take it all back apart.

Your front axle would be a Dana 50 IFS, to replace all the joints requires the front axle be disassembled, unless you have the required tools to pull the one axle U joint while installed on the axle pumkin. Remember to mark all axle shafts for re alignment in the same positions at the U joint.

I didn't have any special tool and both axles slid right out. I put them in the vice and used the same procedure as I use to change the u joints in the drive shafts and then slid them back into place.
I have since taken the truck to south florida (about 4000 miles round trip) I have pulled a loaded 4 horse trailer about 1000 miles and been in some deep muddy bean fields so I guess everything is in place and working.
I love this old truck!

Im guessing you changed the 2 joints at the stub axles(behind the wheels)there is 1 more just outside the pumpkin, changing that 1 requires a tool to do it in the truck or dissasemble the front pumpkin to remove a retainer from inside the diff. There are 3 u-joints across the front end of a ttb front end, someone didnt put a d60 monobeam in there did they?

Not sure, I know I changed two joints on the passenger side and one on the drivers side. Is there another that doesn't come out with the stub axles?
Thanks a bunch,
