2006 F250 Lariat Powerstroke, the on board Lie-o-meter has me confused. Just got back from a 3 week 3500 mile vacation, at one point I had 100 miles left on the computer until empty.
Knowing that in about 50 miles I could get fuel BUT not wanting to take a chance, I went ahead and added 7 gallons at $2.91 and planned to fill up at $2.83 later. I didn't want to reset the computer, just added it to the book.
Got on the road again and was astonished to see that I now had 240 miles until empty. HOW DID IT KNOW???
it goes by apx. how many gals of fuel in the tank. you added to making it sence a higher fuel level. i.e. at 1/4 tank and after you had added say 1/2 tank. this is the main reason why most newer trucks and cars with this system must be fueled up with the key in the off postion or the key out so the computer can reset it self when fueled up.
The computer is smart.. I fill my truck with the engine running most of the time and the miles to empty will actuly go up as you fill it with the engine running..Computers these days . Gotta love em..
