This doesn't make sence? on (c2 check for shorted I circuit) I remove the three pin connector and turn the ignition switch to run position. This is saying the light should go out but if it stays on there is a short to ground in circuit green/red ,I think the light should stay on if the truck is not running because the alternator is not charging??
Am I Correct???
No, you are not Correct.
With the connector removed the light would be out no matter if the engine is running or not, if it is not out with the key in the on pos. you have a short to ground on that wire. The one going to the charge indicator bulb from the three-pin connector.
ok. can you help me step by step and try and trace this wire were ever it goes so that i could pin point this problem? thank you very much!!!!!!!!!!Rusty

Well I can try but the closest wiring schematic I have is a 1995, I do not know how much different it is from your truck.
It says the wire leaves the alternator and goes to a plug near the Starter relay and near the front right top corner of a reservoir behind the battery. Left will be the drivers left sitting in the driver’s seat and right the driver’s right.
Then some how it gets to the firewall plug with a bolt in the center between the PCM and the brake vacuum booster.
From their (now in the cab) it goes to a plug on the back of the Instrument cluster.
I would think you could unplug the connector behind the battery and see if the light goes out, if it does then it is bad between the Alt. and this plug.
If it stays on more than likely it is bad between this plug and the one at the firewall, look at loom near anything that gets hot.
You said something earlier about faxing a copy of the print you have, I do not have a fax but if you can fax it maybe you could email it to me at yahoo.com
replace the at with @ and my name is subford I can not put it in email order as it would be removed from this post.

I do not and will not use a Hanes Repair Manual or any of the other after market manuals as what they have is just copied from the Helm Ford Shop (Service) Manuals and prints and they do not do a very good job of that. You can buy Ford Shop (Service) Manuals from Helm or from eBay. I buy from both.
