Please leave the politics and "blame" out of these threads or they will be closed and deleted.

Agreed.

This is not a time for dissention. There are people who need a lot of help.
What will we do? What can we do? Those are the questions we should be asking...

I agree with Torque. Just do what you can to help in any way you can. Worry about deciding who is at fault in the 2006 elections - but don't post about it here!

People, not politics...that's what this whole thing is about. I'm sure there is enough finger pointing, and blame to go around, but now is not the time to be worried about that.

I read your posts with care Jeff, and I have to say I agree with you all the way on this issue. I am so discouraged by the government's response speed. There are people in desperate situations worldwide that need help, but honestly, these are our countrymen. This needs to be our number one priority yesterday. We can get back to the oil fields in Iraq later. The politicians will be spinning this for years to come, no doubt.

I understand that when people are suffering, it seems that help is always too slow. If officials came out and said that all military personnel are ordered to proceed to New Orleans at all possible speed it would be total chaos. This would only compound the problem. It takes time to assess the situation and mobilize the needed resources. The blame will come, 911 has showed us this. I believe the government and military is doing the best they can in regards to the current situation. Everyone is talking about not knowing what the people in New Orleans are going through, I'm sure that no one here has ever organized a relief effort of this magnitude before? Let everyone do their jobs, help where they can, give what they can.

come on man, how much notice does the government need to make some air drops of three essentials; medicine, food(military rations would do), and most importantly, fresh water.
