Hi, I have a 1979 Ford 1/2 ton with the Chromatic striping package(rainbow reflective). I am wanting to restore it....and wake it
up a little bit....The first question is...Where can these stripes be found....or who can make them for me....the second question is, what would I have to do to the 400 to push it up to 350-400hp..in a daily driver....it currently has the Edelbrock performer intake, with the 1406 carb....and an R.V cam...but is still kind of doggish for my likeing....The big question though is finding the stripes...thanks for any leads.....please post or email me....crazeejames(No Email Addresses In Posts!)
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 28-Aug-02 AT 00:43 AM (EST)]Port and polish the heads and either put higher compression pistons in it or have the heads milled ( and possibly the intake for fitting purposes after head milling ). Boring the block .030 will give you a few more cubic inches too.
Also, what do the spark plugs look like? Are the white (too lean) ?
Are they black (too rich)????
You may just need some fine tuning such as carb, timing etc.
Sorry, no help on the stripes, did you try Motorhaven?
Might try asking a local body shop where they get their custom striping done and check there. You would be suprised what they can do with those custom decals.
Have you checked with a few dealerships, might be able to find a NOS stripe kit - it's a long shot, but maybe.
Yes those are the stripes....the reflective ones that blend together....not the tri-stripe that are non reflective and don't blend. Please let me know if you have found a source....email me at crazeejames(No Email Addresses In Posts!) Thanks.
