I have a 99 psd and I have a question about the water pump. I have an oil leak out of the upper most bolt on my water pump I know the torque specs on these bolts are wrong but do these bolt run into oil at any point and are they sealed with anytype of sealant because I have cleaned the engine off and when it is running I can see the oil start to come out of that bolt. The botl is extremly tight and I am afraid of breaking it off but its leaking oil so I need to figure somethign out any help would be goog on this subject thanks
Tightening the bolt won't make it any more leak-resistant.
The right way would be to put some kind of sealing compound on the threads.
If I had a similar situation, I'd slightly countersink the bolt hole and put an appropriately-sized o-ring on the bolt. Select the size of the o-ring's thickness dependant on how much you countersink it. Remember, I said SLIGHTLY!
However, you need to keep in mind that engine oil pressure is now kept out of your cooling system by the water-pump "gasket" (an o-ring), so you could develop an oil-in-the-coolant problem.
BUT.......
I don't remember oil leaking out of ANY of the water pump bolts when I removed them. I don't think any of them go into an oil gallery. Are you sure it's oil you're seeing leak, and not coolant? Or, are you sure it's a water pump bolt?
You DID put them all back into the same holes from which they came, I hope. There are three different lengths.

I actually just bought the truck and havent done a water pump. I am positive it is oil and I am positive its a water pump bolt. Is the water pump cooled by oil or is there an oil gallery that the water pump seals off?
Ewwwww. I don't think so. I had my pump off a couple of months ago, but I don't remember wiping up any oil, just coolant. If taking off the pump exposed an oil galley, I think I would have had an oil leak while the bolt was out. I didn't.
Hope somebody didn't run a too-long bolt in too far and punch through something internally. Again, Ewwwww! Could this be why the guy sold it? Does it look like a new pump?
You may have to resort to the o-ring cludged "fix" to solve this.
