I replaced the wipers on my 05 SD the day after delivery for skipping when misting. I put teflon 19 ". Used Rain X and still have skipping. Is this a function of the pressure on the arm or the blade too small. Is there a solution to this. I recently rented a Ford Tarus and it did the exact same thing. Maybe the problem is the arm tension ?? they look like the same arm as my SD --19"
It is not uncommon for a new windshield to bind up the wipers. Use some Stoner's invisible glass on a cool window and let it sit for a couple of minutes (reapply to keep it wet) then clean the hell out of it with a cloth instead of paper towels. Repeat a couple of times.
It can also be the angle of the blade on the windshield that causes it. If the blade leans to much to one side it will slide and clear easy on the direction but bind and skip on the opposite. You can carefully bend the wiper arm to the "even" point and that should stop it.
One quick and temporary solution is to take vegetable oil on a Q-tip and run it along the edge of the blade. Will work for a short while.
