I’ve decided to put the 10k mod back on my truck. (I took it off a few months back because it idled to high making the transmission pull at red lights and fuel mileage drops.) This time I want to put it back so that it is turned off at idle. Now the problem: I searched and found the instructions on how to do this by tapping into the Idle Validation Switch and with a relay installed. But, my truck has an Electronic Throttle Control with the IVS and the TPS built into one unit. Can some one tell me which wire I need to tap on the ETC? I also need to know how to hook it up on the other end so it only comes on when the relay tells it to.<O</O
Do you have a way to attach a switch to the throttle assembly like this? It would simplify your project immensly. I have a 10k wired through that switch so the idle will be nice and smooth.
Should be a red wire w/ green stripe on accel. pedal plug. Lights up with test light when the pedal is pushed. If you use a reed style relay from Radio Shack # 275-233, one side of the relay will connect to this wire and the other side to ground. Hook one wire with a resistor, spliced inline, to the relay (per the instructions with the relay) and the other end to the ICP wire. The other wire is hooked up to the remaining terminal on the relay and the other ICP wire. ( blue wire w /stripe and the gray wire w/ stripe on ICP) This is how I did it on my '01. I have the single plug on my pedal and should be the same as your '02.

Thank you very much. I'll try hooking it up this weekend. Getting on the expressways around here I need that extra takeoff punch or I'm going to get run over.

JOE-M,
I also used speaker wire to the ICP. I spliced in the resistor, in one wire, and covered it with heat shrink. Th speaker wire makes it easier to run from the dash to the ICP by keeping both wires together and tight. I put a mini toggle in the wire from the red w/green stripe to turn off the relay, when not needed. This switch also helps me to tell if the resistor is working or not when I push the pedal. When I push the pedal and turn the switch off and on, the rpms will change.

I had the time to wire it up at work today. I had to work on it an hour here and thirty minutes there, but got it finished up. It works like a charm and is exactly what I wanted. I must have bought the loudest relay in the world though, you can hear it click everytime I'm on and off the throttle. I'll get used to it. I do hope it doesn't drop the mileage by 1 mpg like it did the last time, I sure need the extra power.
Thanks again, Joe
