Anyone here have a 05-06 F-250 with the rear stabalizer package? the truck Im looking to get a 06 F-250 Lariat CC FX4 and it has the rear stabalizer package, with the heavy service front srpings. My question is do those spings affect ride quality at all? I diden't need the package but its comming on the only truck that I liked but at the same time I don't want a harsh ride.
Someone please let me know before I go through with this purchase. I don't want to make a mistake. thx.
A truck with the heavy service front suspension will ride harder and usually sit a bit taller in the front. However, it may not be that bad. I assume you're looking to buy a new truck. Take that one for a ride, and then ask your salesman if they have a similar (same engine & body style) truck without the HSF suspension. See how they compare.
I have a 2003 F-250 single cab 5.4L that I installed a plow on. The suspension was too light (4000 pound springs in front) to handle the plow, so I was thinking of installing the 6000 pound code "X" plow springs, but I didn't know how it would ride.
The service manager at the Ford dealer across the street from my service station had recently gotten a brand new 2004 F-250 crew cab king ranch 5.4L that he ordered with the plow suspension, as he was going to have a plow installed. He throws me the keys and tells me to take it for a ride--he says it rides like a limo. I took it for a ride---He was right--it rode great !!! I then decided to put the same springs into mine--the code "X" plow springs--just like his. With the plow on, it rides great--very similar to his. Without the plow----it rides just like a truck--a very stiff truck. The difference is probably in the body--single cab versus crew cab--his truck probably weighs 1000 pounds more than mine.
That's why I say take them for a ride--that's the only way to find out.
Thx for the info. I'm looking for a 2006 F-250 6.0L Auto CC lariat FX4 and the only one I liked (Dark stone two-tone, loaded) is 300 miles away so they are gonna ship it down here as soon as I send them a deposit. (tommarow) None of the truck around here have everything I want on them with the right color combo so this is the only truck that has everything I want. I drove a similar truck just without the HSF springs and the ride seemed fine to me. I just don't want to put a deposit down, wait for the truck to get here then drive it only to find out I don't like the ride.
I'm not very picky about the ride my 2004 F-250 SC 5.4L drives like a dream and I expect a SD to be a little harsher but I don't want everyone (including myself) to say "WTF" when I'm drving around. I do like the added height lift in the front and the stab. bar in the back will make for better handling, just those springs scare me a little.
I have an 04, and I'm pretty sure all SD's have what they call HD front springs. The rear sway-bar package has no effect on the ride at all, in fact it eliminates the overload (helper) springs.
I have the stabilizer package with the 18" tires, and I have no complaints about ride quality. It doesn't ride like a Buick, but that is exactly what I expected. =)
before i starteed modding my truck it had the light duty springs and when i rode with my buddy who had the heavy duty springs there wasnt much of a differnece that i could tell
they both rode like really nice trucks- good ride but you new it wasnt a wussie
Good to hear, I just sent my deposit for the truck and I'll be bringing it home SundaY!
Keep the info comming I'd still like to hear other people's comments!
Congrats! and you can sleep soundly. The heavy service front springs you got should not be mistaken with the springs folks get with their snow plow package. Yours were meant for adding a bigger bumper or winch, and the ride isn't bad at all. I just rode in an '05 yesterday that came with the camper package (same springs your getting,) and it rode smoother than my '04 with the same package. Besides, I'd be willing to bet that 5 minutes after you take delivery, you'll have forgotten you even asked this question.
Thx! The truck is a 2006 Crew cab, Lariat, 6.0L 5pd-Auto, FX4 Dark Stone with Beige two-tone. 18'' Rims with All-Terrain tires, Capitains chairs and all the goodies inside.
Found out I get to pick it up tommarow so I'll have some pics up then!
I have a 06 F350 with the stabilizer bar. The no real problems at all, especially after the first couple days. (Guess the springs / shocks had to settle in. it was little bouncy before then.) You should be happy with them!
