Old coins.......

What is the oldest coin you have ever found? I found a 1919 penny in circualtion and found a 1895 nickel in the basment of my grandpa's place.

I can't remember 'found'. . . but, my grandmother gave me an 1881 Silver Dollar for a gift, when I was a kid. (It has been locked away for years!)

When I was about seven or eight I found an 1859 Indian Head penny.

The oldest I have is an 1838 half cent. It's not in very good shape but you can read everything on it. I have an old H&H tabacco can full of mint indian head pennies. I have almost all of the pennies from 1900 to current. I have most of the buffalo head nickels. There is also a shoe box full of silver dollars from around 1920 to Kennedy. A few odd liberty quarters, mercury dimes,etc. My mother was the coin collector in the family and I inherited them and the hobby. I also collect old postcards. Got stacks back to 1900 from all over the world.

I found a 1891 Dime on the farm while taking down a corn crib. Its bent, but otherwise perfect.

I think caveman used some of these to buy a new invention called the wheel.
