I just had a flat today and think it may be a good time to buy some offroad tires. I am looking for suggestions on whether to go 285 or 295. I am mostly worried about the 295s rubbing or wearing unevenly.
I have 295 on a 2wd cc and they dont rub, you'll be fine on that subject. I dont know about wearing unevenly, I've only had them for 1000 miles. Seems fine though! I recommend Goodyear MTR and can speak for their quality, but they are pretty noisy. BFG's are nice as well. If you want to go high dollar you can look at the Nito, toyo, and Mickey thompson off road tires, youll probably only get 25-30000 miles out of them but they look really sharp! Good luck
I do mainly highway at about 80mi a day, and i can tell you that in my PERSONAL esperience my MTRs are the best tire i have ever owned im on my second set of 285 75/16's.. I have about 15k on them and there is atleast half tire left if not more...Wearing great and i just rotated them the other day for the first time at 15k so that tells you something.. If they are wearing good with 15k without rotation with the weight of these front ends 4x4 and diesel then thats something to me...
To tell you the truth i dont know, but i can INFER from dual exhaust installation that there was way more than an inch of room on each side of the stock 265 spare, which would be enough for the 295. Once again im not 100% sure on that but i would say yes
What is your gear ratio now? 6.0's were 4.30 is that right
What was stock size on the truck?
Don't forget if you go up in size you effect your gear ratio which effects your fuel mpg's.
just a reminder
I wanted the 295 BFG ATs, but took the 285s cause they were in stock, and I needed a set same-day (stupid-stupid-stupid).
The 285s are worlds better than the 265 mastercraft stockers, and really look great, but sometimes I look at the truck from a certain angle and think it could use just a little more tire.
