Zone Codes to Zip Codes....When?

Zone Codes to Zip Codes....When?
Does anyone in this learned community know when the Postal Service changed from Zone Codes to Zip Codes ? I have some stuff I need to date and this will give me a starting point.

I always thought it was 1962, but it turns out to be July 1st, 1963.
I came across some old French's Dry Mustard in the cupboard, I guess it takes me forever to use that stuff. The address on the bottle said, "Rochester 4, NY." I thought it wise to throw it out.....
