Build sheet

Hello everyone,
Just got on the forum yesterday and have learned so much already. I have been absolutely glued to the forum. Like I said in my intro I am a converet from 10 years in a 2500 Dodge/Cummins. I loved my Cummins but I like the F350 dualie better than the Dodge. My Cummins was turned up and would pull like a Bull Elephant.
I bought a bigger 5th wheel so I needed a bigger truck. I don't know much about the powerstroke but I love it so far. I just bought a 99 F350 with 95000 miles and it seems to be in perfect condition. I just don't know anything about it. I would like to know the specs on MY truck. Is there anywhere on line or Ford that I could go to get the build sheet for MY truck with specifics? Also with the vast experience out there are there any traits or special things about 99's that I should know. I have 7.3/auto trans/club cab. I will be towing a 32 ft. Montana 5th wheel(10300 lbs.) any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. thanks, bcircus

I have a stock 2000 4x4 and tow a 7000 trailer. There's a lot of mods you can do, as you can see through this site. I'd take care of your tranny, as Fords are so-so in that department. Add a bigger cooler, use O/D only with a light load on the tranny, check into the Sonnax valve and tricummulator springs for better shifting (mine is shifting funny once in a while and I need to do this) and keep up on the service of it.

About anything concerning the Powerstroke.....try going here: http://www.nav-international.com.br/...rStroke/hs.asp
As far a weak points on the engine.......you should go up on Ebay and buy a CPS sensor for around $100......and put it in your glovebox along with a 10mm socket and ratchet. They tend to have a wide variety of failure symptoms.....from "just running rough, and hard to start" to "was driving along, and the engine died, and won't start" A sure giveaway for this failure is....as your cranking on the engine.......the tach won't move.
Other than that.....if you take care of the maintainence.....a very reliable engine. Power washing the engine has caused problems if water is allowed to get into the "water proof" connections under the hood. That should get you started.

Welcome to the forum bcircus.
I agree with what touchofgrey said. Anyone who knows about the CPS carries a spare and the tools to change it out.
Powerstrokes need a special additive to the coolant to protect it from cavitation. You check the levels in the coolant with some special test strips. The additive is pretty inexpesive. I forget exactly how much, but less than $20.00. It lasts for months to years.
Guages.
Big exhaust
Big intake
THEN you can add a chip or a programmer or big injectors for additional power.
One downside to Ford it it's a lot more expensive to turn it up than the Cummins was. Too bad that great engine is wrapped in a Dodge.

Least we forget, get rid of that stock muffler and go with a BTM. Unless you want to spring for a bigger exhaust.
