7.3 PSD Wheels

What are you all doing to keep the wheels looking good on your 7.3L PSDs?

Our "new to us" 2002 XLT has the OE wheels. Truck now has a little over 55k on it and the wheels are in nice shape.

Not sure if they are aluminum, chromed steel or chromed aluminum. If aluminum, does it have a clear coat? Thanks for the help! Mike

They are aluminum. The XL is the only trim option that has steel wheels and they are either black or argent.

I don't do anything special to maintain them. Wash them with the rest of the truck and polish two or three times a year. They are pretty durable, and they are clearcoated.

Actually a stock XLT would have steel wheels with a crimped on polished Stainless steel "cover".

Hmmm, well maybe mine is not an entry level XLT. It has a Ford bedliner, security sytem, power bucket seats, towing package, including tow mirrows and child restraint system.

Don't believe the wheels are steel, however. They round have holes in them, about the size of a half dollar. (For those of us who can remember half dollars)

Yeah I have 2 sets of them they come from the xlts I sold off the wheels that came with my lariat cause I liked them better. Only paid $25 each and another $25 for brand new Firestones during the recall. So I got 8 tires and rims to rotate around and sold my Lariat wheels with 20000 miles on firestones for $450. Yeah they clean up real easy just wash them when you wash the truck throw some polish on them once or twice a year and maybe clean the backsides a couple times a year when you rotate your tires.

yep they be aluminum then. I'd wax my aluminum wheels with a good wax. I have corrosion on my aluminum wheels.
