I found a 64 F100 3 speed trans to put in my truck as a replacment for my stock 54 3 speed. Was looking at it while I waited for the gasket kit and unfortunately let the end shaft bearings move and inturn dumped all the needle bearings into the bottom of the case!!! Being the trans expert that I,m NOT, I'll be taking the gaskets, o-rings etc... to my trans guy to have him make the save on this one.
Already had the drive shaft yolk changed and the shaft shortened so I'm in bed with it now.
When all is said and done I will be selling the stock 54 trans if anyone is interested...all internal looks good and only problem is the threaded shift posts thru the side to the linkage have been welded in the past and work good but may need replacment in future. Nothing internally wrong, ran well in all gears before frame off.
I can send pics if anyone is interested. Ed
