I have a 86' F-150 4x4 that I just rebuilt a 92' 5.0L H.O and intalled in the truck. Edelbrock performer intake, 600cfm carb, heads milled and ported, bbk headers. I was wondering what kind of increase in performance would I actually recieve with roller rockers. Anything noticible? It may be a lifted truck with 33's but I still love to give those ricers a run for there money.
If adding the roller rockers was the only thing you did and didn't change the rocker arm ratio in the process, the performance increase would be relatively small. You probably wouldn't notice a lot of difference. They will free up the valve train a bit, reducing friction and heat and increasing longevity of valvetrain components.
Crane claims increases of 15-25 HP by bolting on their full-roller rockers, but that's with increasing the ratio from 1.6 to 1.7. I think they're being a touch optimistic.
Without changing the ratio I would expect gains more on the order of 5-10 HP. Maybe as much as 15 in some cases.
well in that case figure on some 1.7 cobra rockers . they are pedestal mount which is what you would need. they will wake up that cam for sure. might need new pushrods to though.
