ok here it goes i built a 408 for my truck i bored it 30 over compcam 268 and edelbrock carb and intake and it has ran great for about 2 months but yesterday it started to tick and it has just gotten worse even though it ticks the engine seems to run fine as normal i looked at all of my exhaust work but i dont think that is it. it is too loud to be exhaust so i pulled my driver side valve cover and one of the rockers was loose but it was still torked to specs so i loosened it and pulled the pushrod and it was bent but very little but bent so i bought a new pushrod and put the rod and rocker back on the rocker was still loose after i torqued it so i started it and the tick was still there i bought a new rocker arm kit and it did tighten up when i torqued it but it is still ticking help me please
ps when i pulled the valve cover 3 of the oil deflectors were broke off but i did find all of them
Sounds like you missed checking your lifter preload and valvetrain geometry. You have probably wiped a cam lobe or two. It sounds like you will need to remove the cam and check it for wear and replace some of your pushrods and other valve train components.
Bent pushrods are usually a sign that there's too much lift for the valve springs but the fact that it ran well for 2 months is a little perplexing. As Eric said you may have wiped out a cam lobe and in that case you'll need to do what he suggests as well as making sure that you have the correct springs for the new cam.
Your cam is too big for the type of rocker your using.

This happend in my daddy's pull truck too .. what's happening is the cam gets to the top of it's lobe and the rocker hits the stud and it tweeks it just a little .. after a while it will either bend the push rod or break the stud off ..
How we fixed it was by grinding the sqaure stand off on the front side so the rocker get that little more to move. It's a back yard fix but unless you want to switch over to roller rockers it all I can give you ....
