Program to make '03 V-10 Variable Displ. Engine

I want to make my 2003 Excursion V-10 a Variable Displacement Engine by being able to run in a modified "Fail-safe cooling" mode. I can induce the "Fail-safe cooling" mode but I need to modify the "CANNED" algorithm so that I can A/C and cut in and out with a vacuum switch and retain full timing in the FSC mode and not have to turn off the ignition key/back on to get out of the FSC mode..

I will be in the FSC mode at idle, coasting, braking and cruising under light load. This is similar to what GM,Chrysler,Honda and others do. Ford is working on the "Variable Displacement Engine" scheme without major engine mods.

My goal is improved MPG's!!!!

How can I change the algorithm and update my EEPROM or ????

I suspect this would cause increased engine wear and mediocre, if any improvement. would you really have your engines life cut down by 50-100k+ miles to gain 0-.50 mpgs? with the engine being worked that much harder not only will there be more wear, but there might be even worse mileage, the 5.4 really doesnt do much better for mileage, and its just a v10 -2 cylinders, with much less power. And say godbye to anything other than crawling slowly up to speed.

A point of clarification - The 5 cylinder mode would only be in effect under times of light/no load. When power is required you would have the full 10 cylinders available as normal. The road tests of GM and Dodge vehicles say the transition is "seamless" and mileage improvements are at least 10 %. Engine wear should less not more. Let the discussion continue.

I seriously doubt any tuning company is going to work on this for the V10. Its a limited production engine compared to others in the market.
